Sonnen Dominates But Silva Defends Belt

By FCF Staff  Anderson Silva remains as the UFC Middleweight Champion despite being dominated by acomplished wrestler Chael Sonnen for four rounds plus. In the fifth and final round of last night’s title fight in Oakland, Silva managed to catch Sonnen with a late triangle-choke, after being punished by his opponent’s ground-and-pound game throughout much of the bout.

Despite Sonnen’s highly publicized verbal assault of Silva heading into the bout, the champion was quick to bow before the challenger in a sign of respect following the fight. Silva stated in his post fight interview that he had incurred a serious rib injury sometime last week.
