Dream has confirmed that featherweight champion Bibiano Fernandes will defend his title against Hiroyuki Takaya, at the promotion’s upcoming New Year’s Eve, Dynamite 2010 card in Saitama, Japan. The bout is the first that Dream has announced for the year-end event. (Pictured: Fernandes)

Fernandes (8-2) has competed just once in 2010; at Dream 13 in March he worked his way to a split decision victory over Joachim Hansen. Fernandes has faced Takaya before, as the renowned jiu-jitsu competitor earned a split decision win over Takaya last October, in the finals of Dream’s Featherweight Grand-Prix.

Takaya (14-8-1) has gone 2-1 since losing to Fernandes. At K-1 ‘s Dynamite card last New Year’s Eve, Takaya was stopped by Michihiro Omigawa in the first round. The Japanese fighter has since rebounded from the loss, knocking out the aforementioned Hansen and more recently Chase Beebe in impressive fashion.

Dream’s Dynamite card will be hosted by Saitama’s Super Arena, and is expected to be broadcast live on HDNet.
