The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially added a middleweight bout between Jesse Bongfeldt and Rafael Natal to the line-up of the promotion’s upcoming December 11th event in Montreal, Quebec. Bongfeldt steps in for fellow Canadian Jason MacDonald, who originally was scheduled to face Natal at UFC 124.

Last week Natal’s management company, Dominance MMA, posted on its official Twitter account that MacDonald had been injured, and that the Ring of Combat vet would now face Bongfeldt.

Natal (12-3) is coming off an unsuccessful Octagon debut; at UFC Fight Night 22 in September he lost by unanimous decision to Rich Attonito. Prior to that, at Moosin’s “God of Martial Arts” event in May, Natal knocked out former “Ultimate Fighter” winner Travis Lutter.

Bongfeldt (21-7) will make his UFC debut having won seven straight fights, a streak which includes wins over current UFC competitor T.J. Grant and fellow Octagon newcomer, Sean Pierson.

UFC 124 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Josh Koscheck.
