Douglas Lima laid claim to the Maximum Fighting Championship’s welterweight title tonight in Enoch, Alberta, as he came from behind to submit Jesse Juarez in the third round. Juarez dominated early on, taking Lima down at will; however, the American Top Team fighter caught his opponent with a beautifully executed triangle-choke, straight armbar combo, to take home the belt.

In the card’s other feature attraction, Ryan Ford (pictured) went to 2-0 against Pete Spratt, once again tapping out the UFC veteran with a second round, rear-naked-choke. Spratt impressed in the opening frame, avoiding Ford with his foot work only to take the Canadian welterweight down several times. The resilient Ford finally got Spratt to the mat in the second, and shortly after, nicely worked his way into the fight ending choke.

In other action from tonight’s HDNet broadcast;

-In what was largely a rather conservative, stand-up affair, Rodney Wallace working his way to a unanimous decision victory over David Heath.
-Punishing slugger Dwayne Lewis narrowly got by Razak Al-Hassan with a split decision nod, in a fight that could have been scored in favour of Al-Hassan.
-Kajan Johnson absolutely dominated Ryan Healy standing and on the ground for the UD win
-And in the broadcast’s opening bout, Dhiego Lima sent Bill Fraser crashing to the mat with a fight ending straight right hand.
