M-1 Global’s Showtime debut saw two new champions crowned, as Jose Figueroa and Magomed Sultanakhmedov (pictured) took home the lightweight and middleweight championships respectively, with second round stoppages.

Figueroa overwhelmed Artiom Damkovsky on the mat for much of their main event tilt, and punished the Belarus fighter from above with strikes. With a bloodied Damkovsky unable to escape Figueroa’s assault from a full mount in round two, the referee intervened to hand Figueroa the M-1 Global lightweight title.

In a bout that was largely contested on its feet, Sultanakhmedov blasted a game Tyson Jeffries with hard kicks to his legs and midsection throughout the bout, before finishing the Team Quest fighter off with a series of strikes in round two.

Former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor Vinny Magalhaes made short work of light-heavyweight Jake Doerr; after flooring the previously undefeated fighter with a right hand just seconds in, Magalhaes quickly took Doerr’s back and finished the fight with a series of punches from above.
