Less than a month removed from the opening night of Bellator’s Season Four competition, the promotion has announced the quarterfinal match-ups for its upcoming welterweight tourney. The bouts will take place at Bellator 35, which will go down March 5th, at the Tachi Palace Casino & Resort in Lemoore, California. (Pictured: Jay Hieron)
"This Welterweight tournament is stacked. Every fight should be hyper-competitive" said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. "Any one of these 8 fighters could win it, make $100,000 and earn the right to fight Askren for our world title.”
The quarter-final match-ups are as follows: two accomplished judo competitors will face off as Jim “Judo” Wallhead (21-5) will take on Rick Hawn (9-0), Steve Carl (14-2) will take on UFC and Strikeforce vet Jay Hieron (19-4), Season 2 finalist Dan Hornbuckle (22-3) will fight Brent Weedman (17-5-1), and in the night’s main event, former welterweight champ Lyman Good (10-1) will meet the undefeated Chris Lozano (6-0).
Bellator’s fourth season will be broadcast live on MTV 2.
