Locked in the Cage has announced that Albert Alvarez, the 20-year-old brother of Bellator FC lightweight champ Eddie, will compete in his second amateur MMA bout at the promotion’s upcoming February 11th event in Philadelphia. Alvarez will face 29 year-old lightweight Rudy Campbell.
"I am excited for the opportunity to be able to perform once again in front of my hometown crowd for Locked in the Cage," Alvarez said in a press release from the promotion. "I thank Randy Campbell for stepping up and taking this fight. The pressure is on, I have been training hard and can't wait to get in the cage again. It is going to be an exciting fight and I look forward to coming home with a win."
Alvarez competed for the first time at a Locked in the Cage event in December, and worked his way to a unanimous decision victory over Pedro Torres.
"It's an honor to be part of the start of Albert's quest to become a world class pro," said Locked in the Cage President Fran Evans. "This show has me pumped. Every show just keeps growing. Watching the growth of MMA and the fighters on our card -- it's just leaves me speechless."
The Feb. 11th card, which will be hosted by the National Guard Armory, will feature a featherweight title fight between Scott Heckman (4-1 pro; 3-0 amateur) and Brian Jackson (2-1 pro) in the main event.
