Melvin Guillard continued to demonstrate in Killeen, Texas, tonight that he remains a dangerous presence in the lightweight division, as he stopped highly regarded Evan Dunham in the first round, at the UFC's latest Fight for the Troops event. After flooring Dunham with a hard right hand early in the bout, Guillard finished off Dunham with a series of knees along the Octagon fence, to earn his fourth straight win.
In another of the card’s more notable bouts, featherweight Mark Hominick likely entrenched a shot at champion Jose Aldo, by putting away George Roop in the opening round. Roop was unable to fully recover from a punishing right hand that Hominick landed early on, and soon after was sent crashing to the mat once again courtesy a left hook. Although Roop attempted to recover from the perilous position the referee wisely intervened and brought the bout to an end, evidenced by the fact that Roop had trouble walking after the fight's stoppage.
Here are the results from tonight’s Fight for the Troops event, which was held to raise funds for The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
