It appears as though rising middleweight Luke Rockhold will be the next man to face Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, according to the 26 year-old-fighter’s official Twitter account. Although the bout has not been officially announced by the company, reportedly it will take place in early September.

After going 7-1 to begin his pro MMA career, Rockhold has been plagued by injuries as of late and has not competed since February, 2010, when he stopped Paul Bradley. The American Kickboxing Academy fighter also holds a win over UFC veteran Jesse Taylor.

Here are some of the posts that have appeared on Rockhold’s Twitter page over the last day or so.

Words out, Im fighting Jacare for the title. I feel healthy, I feel ready and I feel I have all the tools to take his belt. It's on

I guess good things happen to people who wait! Lol fight will b early September.

Souza (14-2) is coming off third round, submission victory over Robbie Lawler in January to extend his undefeated streak to five. The renowned BJJ competitor scored a unanimous decision win over Tim Kennedy last August, to become the Strikeforce Middleweight Champion.
