Torres (39-3) will head into the bout having won back-to-back bouts over Charlie Valencia and more recently at UFC 126 in February, Antonio Banuelos. The victories came after Torres was defeated for just the second and third time in his decorated career, as after losing the WEC belt to Brian Bowles in August, 2009, Torres was submitted by Jospeh Benavidez at WEC 47 in March, 2010.
Pickett (20-5) is coming off a memorable, unanimous decision victory over Ivan Menjivar at WEC 53 in December, after losing by UD to Scott Jorgensen at WEC 50 last August. The loss was the British vet’s first since 2007, and is the only time Pickett has been defeated in his last eleven fights.
Other bouts scheduled for the UFC 130 card include former light-heavyweight champion “Rampage” Jackson vs. Matt Hamill, former heavyweight champ Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson, welterweight Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story, Brian Stann vs. Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago, and heavyweight Stefan Struve vs. Travis Browne.
