Bellator Fighting Championships has announced today that the May 14th, non-title bout between its middleweight champ Hector Lombard (pictured) and veteran Falaniko Vitale, will be hosted by Caesars Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. The Bellator 44 event, which will be broadcast live on MTV 2, will mark the first time the promotion will visit New Jersey.
“This is a great partnership for us; Atlantic City is a classic fight town and New Jersey is a hotbed for mixed martial arts, so it was a natural fit,” said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney in the announcement. “And, Hector vs. Falaniko should be a great fight.”
Lombard (27-2-1) is currently riding an impressive 21 fight undefeated streak, which includes winning the Bellator Middleweight Championship in the promotion’s debut season.
Vitale (29-9) has won three fights in a row, and is coming off a recent KO victory over Dylan Clay on March 12th, at X-1’s “Champions Three” event.
Bellator 44 will also feature the final match-up for one of the promotion’s season four tournaments. No weight class has been confirmed.
